Birth By Sleep Update
With all the attention focused on Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, it’s easy to forget Birth By Sleep. While it’s not much, it’s still news.
In a recent Famitsu scan, the magazine interviewed with the directors of 358/2 Days, Tetsuya Nomura and Tomohiro Hasegawa. There was a footnote at the bottom of the article about the progress of Birth by Sleep, Coded, and the 3rd Birthday, and Birth by Sleep is currently recording voice acting! Not much, but still something!

well this is good progress. I heard in video game production such as this voice acting is usually left for last while the game production itself, gameplay, world creation, etc. is done first so this shouldn’t really take too long. I’d give it maybe two months for finishing the voice overs andt this game will be done before you know it. Also first to comment!!

and yay! im glad, cuz its true that voice acting is last! its about time, but it still might take a LOOOOOOOONG time to be released in JP let alone NA.
or maybe not.
i hope not, btw i bought KH RE:COM 2 days ago, and its actually really fun! once you figure out how to use the card batlle system.
plus, once you beat the game as sora, you get to re do the game, with a different story, with riku!
so exciting!

Bout time we get BBS info considering that’s the next KH game I’m going to buy :). With any luck we’ll get it in NA first or early second quarter of next year.
That was always my problem with Re: CoM is the battle system. The storyline is decent…especially for a story that Sora doesn’t know took place.

just that you know : voice recording isnt the last thing to do so far as we know square has finished the battle system and maybe some worlds but surely not all complete because first they record the voices and then they make the video scenes(normally). so my guess is that it will be released october in japan and about north america and europe:???(maybe april 2010)

good call there Jo. Clearly you know more about the gaming industry than I do. It gives me good hope since BBS is being hoped to be playable at TGS 2009. RE:COM’s okay riku #1, but I wouldn’t say it’s my kind of game even if it is Kingdom Hearts related.

Okay..I’m confused.. I’ve played KH1 and KH2.. but what is 358/2 days? I mean does the Kingdom hearts game on the DS have its own story guideline? I saw the trailer for 358/2 days and I know that its coming out soon, but at the end of KH2 (PS2) Axel was dead along with all of Organization 13 (save roxas)…so how are they alive in this new again? Does the DS KH just have a different story line?

Axel: Pluto went with Donald and Goofy to search for Leon, but he seems to do his own thing and find his own way to different worlds because at the end of KH in the last movie it seems as if Donald, Goofy, and Sora didn’t know where he was when he’s carrying the letter.
Confused: 358/2 takes places right after Roxas comes to be a Nobody and joins the Organization up until the time when he ends up in Twilight Town presumably.

nope its TGS 2009 Sonicspeed. Famitsu interviewed SE and was hoping for KH BBS to be playable at that event meaning it has not happened yet :).You’re thinking of Jump Festa. Jump Festa had its 2009 year of gaming in 2008 this year it’ll be Jump Festa 2010 in December. TGS focusses on the year its based in while Jump Festa is sorta skipping from December (since it’s the end of the year anyway) to the next year, hence why we had Jump Festa 2008 in 2007 and Jump Festa 2009 in 2008, etc. etc. etc. I blew that one out of proportion I know :p but I thought I’d help make it a little more clearer.

The first time I played KH 1 I did pretty good. I got stuck in a few odd places though:
1. Beating Genie in Agrabah.
2. Beating Sabor and Clayton in Deep Jungle.
3. Navigating through Monstro.
4. Beating the crud out of Maleficent (both human and dragon form) in Hollow Bastion.
5. And finally last, but not least defeating Ansem SOD in all of his forms.

Robin Williams was the REAL genie voice lol. I don’t remember ever fighting Genie though…or do I need to replay the series again cause its been a while.

It was when Jafar had control of him and Dan Castellenata played Genie’s role in KH 1 and KH 2 because of the drug fued or something with Robin Williams apparently at the time before KH 1 was released.

yes Yola, that’s why its called KH re:COM on the ps2. re = remake, thus is why its called KH remake: Chain of Memories. They put in their money to retell the events of Castle Oblivion from Sora and Riku’s point of view and it came at a good time too with 358/2 days coming out half a year later in Japan.

depends on what u want to know my compadre (im not spanish at all nor speak the language), 358/2 days I will say is a good buy and I recommend it if you have a nintendo DS or plan on getting one.

I’ll just say the stuff you’d likely expect to see in this game:
1. Obviously as the game states in its title (like with any story) it takes place over the course of the year that Sora was in Castle Oblvion/Asleep for.
2. Roxas and Xion develop a friendship together with Axel.
3. The ‘true’ nature of Organization XIII is revealed to an almost unaware Roxas.
4. Xion has one odd, yet kinda predictable identity (hint should be if you have played KH Re:COM it’ll become clear as you first get introduced to this girl).
5. The meaning of the number 2 in kh 358/2 days (while debatable) has to do mostly with Roxas and one other person….pretty much anyone else’s guess since TN and SE pretty much said its up for the player to decide.

bravo sorika, you put two and two together like a good old fashioned jigsaw puzzle. She obviously resembles Kairi since she in fact is a ***** of sora lol. couldn’t give it away, but in my other posts I did reveal her identity. You also got the last part right too, she does turn into a certain protagonist we all know and love [cough] SORA [cough cough] lol. As for more hints, I can’t give much more or it will spoil the game for u guys and as for unlockables that would for multiplayer (you start off with 13 and then can unlock six new characters as well from what I know).

Wow keep up with things man :p. 358/2 comes out for Nintendo DS in September in NA I believe. And we’re still waiting on Birth By Sleep to come out in Japan following my NA sometime next year.

358/2 actually looks quite reasonable for a DS game of KH. Didn’t even know they were putting out KH games still, which is rather sad for someone whose a MASSIVE fan of the series. I only thought something was up a week ago when I saw a manga for 358/2 and I had no idea who Xion (the chick that resembles Kairi) was. I was wondering how they would be able to add to the storyline. A game in between the 2 main stories is pretty smart - even though your not playing as Sora. Can’t wait for it - I’ve clocked every aspect of the KH PS2 series way too many times…

358/2 does seem to have been a good idea for a game to explain Roxas a bit better. BBS is only for PSP (at least for the first release but who knows about later). It is set something like 10 years before KH when Sora and Riku are kids on Destiny Islands (they’re shown in some preview movie being looked at). The main characters of the game are 3 keyblade wielders named Aqua, Terra, and Ven (who looks remarkably like Roxas and also has an air of mystery about him). The story seems to be about where the keyblade came from and how it came to Sora, although it seems like a few other background story are found out like how Maleficent knows about the Princesses.

well you were right friend. Looks like we will get to see Stitch’s ship at least in ‘Deep Space’, but whether Hawaii will be there or not remains yet to be seen. Maybe that new trailer in TGS 09 will clear this mess of info up.

What I was getting at was if it wasn’t in the Japanese version, how could it be in the international versions? either SE wants a final mix if that were true of this game or this is some odd prank

Tokyo Game Show…it’s where Square Enix does a lot of unveiling of their new games and updates on ones already announced. There’s almost a guarantee of good news for BBS at TGS 2009 at the end of September. Hopefully there will be a release date :D.

you dont go to pinochios world. There is beasts castle, agrabah, the world that never was, twilight town, halloween town, neverland, and wonderland. No pinochio. And the game, 358/2 ends at what is the beginning of kh2 with roxas waking up aftr yu beat riku n lose to riku in ansem form.
