The Kingdom Hearts 2 battle system has changed a bit from the first. There are new monsters call nobodies, new weapons, abilities and a new drive gauge. The new monsters you fight are called Nobodies from Organization XIII. They have weaknesses just like anything else. There are new heartless as well. Your battle continues but you get some new equipment on the way. In the game a good number of keyblades come to you.

At the beginning of the story you get a new set of clothes from Master Yen Sid. These clothes allow you to use the drive gauge and switch into 4 different forms that you unlock at different points in the game. Each form gives you special abilities.

The Health gauge hasn’t changed at all, but the Mp gauge has. Instead of fighting to get your mp up it comes back after a set period, also after killing an enemy they drop bubbles those will also restore your Mp. The better your level the more mp you’ll have.

They’ve added a few abilities for you to unlock by leveling. To level you just kill a set number of heartless or nobodies to obtain exp, the exp will add up and level at a certain milestone.

There are new items with the new gameplay. These accessories will help you fight and some increase your luck chance. Others have immunities to a certain type of heartless. Save up your money for these they’ll help.

They’ve added a new spell into the game for you to use. You’ll have to unlock that in the game. How many spells you can use is simply up to you Mp gauge. The higher the level the more spells you can cast.

Overall in the battle system is fighting. You’ll learn how to fight in the game. It’ll become second nature. The graphics are good and the battle system could use improvement to keep the player more entertained. After awhile of just chopping heartless down it tends to get boring, but the storyline makes up for that. It’s not just “button mashing” if you’re good at technique and style in the game you’ll make it far. The battle scenes keep you guessing, it’s your choice how far you make it.
