Kingdom Hearts 2 has a good number of villains, be it from Disney movies like “The Lion King”, or how about villains from another game? Square-Enix and Disney put their heads together to make a wide selection of villains. Pete for instance from “Steamboat Willie” that aired in 1928 was put into play and played a big role in this game as a villain but later along with Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” feels regret to the heartless and decide to take on hundreds of them.

  • Oogie Boogie from the popular “The Nightmare before Christmas” was put into both Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and he played a big role; while Shan Yu from “Mulan” played a little role. It may be that Square-Enix puts the role of the villain on how well the movie sold, or how popular it was. It may just be the plot. Kingdom Hearts 2 also creates a few villains for the game. Like Organization XIII, a group of nobodies who’s goal is to find the mysteries that lie within the heart and use the power of Kingdom Hearts to become complete humans. They feel no guilt for their actions. While most members mask their true nature by pretending to have emotions, deceiving both themselves and the ones they meet. Their leader Xemnas who is the nobody of Xehanort is the main villain, but he also play in Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix as an extra boss battle. Xigbar the “Freeshooter” is Organization member II. You meet him early in the game in Hollow Bastion where he taunts Sora. Then he transforms a Dragon in Land of Dragons a world based on “Mulan” into a heartless. You later beat him in The World That Never Was.
  • Ursula, a cecaelia sea witch who played in “The Little Mermaid” has been in both Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. Although in Kingdom Hearts 2 they put a different plot into this story. Instead of fighting Ursula you battle her with a different weapon, rhythm. Jafar from the Disney film “Aladdin” comes back as a Genie. Being let out of his lamp by a street merchant he threatens Agrabah and later gets put back into his lamp.
  • Sephiroth from a popular video game called “Final Fantasy VII” plays in both video games at Cloud’s enemy and rival. Scar who stared in “The Lion King” made his first entry into Kingdom Hearts 2 as a tyrant king. Later on in the game after Simba killed him Scar’s ghost haunts the Pride Lands. Simba realizes he has too show his courage and scares the ghosts away.
  • Hades who is the Greek god of the underworld stared in “Hercules” plays in both Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, tricks Sora in unlocking the lock that Zeus put on the Underdrome, and holds his own games. Hector Barbossa, Captain of the Black Pearl. Played in the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” hunts down all of the cursed Aztec gold they stole. He partners up with Pete to try and kill Sora and his friends. Captain Barbossa also calls on a Gecko like heartless called The Illuminator.

Square-Enix and Disney blended their villains perfectly together as the game showed it. While some people call fighting just “Button mashing” others like to think of the story that’s behind the battle. The Villains played a big roll in Kingdom Hearts 2 simply because if there were no villains the game would not exist. The villains are the base in which this game rotates. Making it a goal for you to knock him down or stop him from doing that. Square-Enix and Disney deserve a pat on the back for this stunning plot line of villains.
