More From Nomura In Dengeki
TheWertle translated yet more of the stuff in Dengeki PS Magazine (shown on FF13Vids). I’ll put a summary here of the most important points from this and other interviews:
- Nomura has stated in the past that the “New Project” MAY be a “Non-game project” and that it WILL NOT have “Kingdom Hearts” in the title.
- Nomura has now stated that this project may be an interesting side-story focusing on characters other than Sora, although Sora still has a big role.
- He should be explaining “Birth By Sleep” a bit more, what Mickey did in the World of Darkness, and how Mickey got his Keyblade.
- He’ll want to work on developing Roxas the most. He thinks it’s interesting that his birth and disappearance have both been drawn within a year.
- He wants to make this “New Project” slightly different from the Kingdom Hearts series including slight changes in the system.
- The armoured figures in the “Birth By Sleep” video are connected to Xemnas/Xehanort. There may be elaboration on this.
- Nomura has previously confirmed that after the Final Fantasy XIII games, he will be concentrating on the story of Kingdom Hearts.
- Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ was confirmed to be Nomura’s final PlayStation 2 game, and therefore any future Kingdom Hearts games will only be on PlayStation 3 or possibly other gaming systems.
- The “New Project” should be announced soon, although Nomura wants to keep the title a secret for awhile and tell us at just the right time.
- Multi-developing makes Nomura want to put the “New Project” on another system. If he does, he wants to decide whether to make it for PSP, Nintendo DS or mobile phones.
- Square-Enix are currently working on three projects in total. One of them is confirmed to be Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but it’s unknown what the other two are. They’re unrelated to eachother though.
- Yoko Shimomura will be attending the Square-Enix Party 2007. She’s looking forward to meeting people and asks everyone to wait patiently.
In other news, Deathspank from KH-Vids, with TheWertle’s help, has now translated some of the Reverse/Rebirth cutscenes:

If Terra represents Twilight, it could be him opening his heart to more Darkness as he tries to gain more strength.
…Has anyone given thought to the idea that Light, Twilight, Darkness and Dawn aren’t set paths, but instead a cycle? Riku fell into Twilight when he opened himself to Darkness, and is slowly recovering himself on the path of Dawn. Eventually, he will return to Light…but what about the others?
Is it possible that these things shift over time? A constant cycle? Periods of Darkness, periods of Light, and intermittent times between where it transitions?
Sorry, just me putting ideas out there.

interesting…hey dose anyone know why Terra’s eyes turned somewhat golden towards the end, the looked a lot like xehanort’s

Roxas’s true name is Sora. NaminĂ©’s true name is Kairi. It can’t be that Roxas is Ven because it’s established that Roxas is Sora. (I think that Ven looks like the lovechild of Roxas and Cloud, myself, and I’m not going to go into the details of that. O,o)
The Old Man wants to kill Ven because he’s the enemy. So is Terra. So is Aqua. He wants them all dead and out of his way so he can do whatever. Simple as that. (And really, the practical reason that Ven looks like Roxas is because Ven is tied to wind, and Roxas is tied to Sora who is tied to Sky. Not to mention that each of them have hair corresponding to their element; blonde/yellow for wind (green would be the only really applicable color), blue for water, and brown for earth.)
Yeah, Mickey seems to have just gotten there. Too little too late, though, I’m afraid…Ven was already down, and Aqua seemed to have used up a lot of her MP in that fight (look at how she’s panting after casting that Reflega. Granted, she just took a nasty fall, but she looks really worn out, and all she’s done is cast magic.)

hi kairi

I was just thinking, but you know how Ven looks alot like Roxas and remember how in kh2 in one of the parts when Roxas met with Namine and she asked him “Do you remember your true name?” I think that maybe Roxas’s true name is Ven and Ven isn’t some Sora/Roxas look alike maybe it really is Roxas. but i was just thinking and it is possible. right????

Mickey just got there. Don’t you see his expression? He’s about to kick some ass… Or not.

on 19 May 2007 at 3:46 pm 51. TheCammMan
I wanna know why Ven looks like Roxas, and why the old guy in Heartless-ansems clothing wanted to kill him

…Squaresoft (now Square-Enix) is a Japanese company. Square Co. Ltd. and Enix Corporations both had their company headquarters in Tokyo, and now that they’re Square-Enix, they still have Tokyo headquarters. Granted, both have American HQs (just like Nintendo, Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota, Sony, Sanrio, and every other Japanese company that has markets in America), but that doesn’t make them an American company, no more than American companies having overseas headquarters makes them foreign companies.
on 03 May 2007 at 9:53 pm 49. khfanbc
u know what i have to say is simple…square is an american company.so you would think that they would put us first, but NO!the creator of kh series is jap so they have to give it to them first.i say screw the japs we should the ones that get the games first, not the japs.the company is in our country and we should be there first priority.

God, waiting for all these new KH projects is already killing me. Sometimes.. all i can think about is what the new KH is gonna be like… or what theyre planning on doing. the suspense is killing me
I really dont want Roxas to go.. since Roxas in kh2 “returned” to his true self. So doesnt that mean hes not in kh3? idk about the Roxas look alike in the S.E. but He probably looks like Roxas for A reason. since they’ve never explain what Roxas did during organization XIII and the rest that hasn’t gone to oblivion castle, Do you guys think they will show it in the new project?
neh i dont know. im dying… so bad waiting. especially since im a very impatient person lol.

OK. I was curious, considering how vehemently Disney likes to protect its copyrights, about who ultimately had the final say as to what games Sora goes into.
on 03 May 2007 at 1:30 pm 46. Riku
Square-Enix owns the rights to all characters in Kingdom Hearts that were not already owned by Disney beforehand. This includes Sora, Riku, Kairi, Xehanort, Ansem the Wise, Roxas, Naminé, Ollette, Pence, Hayner, and all members of the Organization. Of course, all Final Fantasy characters are owned by Square-Enix as well.
on 03 May 2007 at 6:23 am 45. Shakespeare
I personally love Final Fantasy for having so many different stories. It’s always something fresh and new. Besides, you guys talk about it as if Sora is getting axed completely from the game. Hello, he’s the KEYBEARER for crying out loud! The story cannot proceed without him.
(But a question: Who owns the rights to Sora’s character, Square-Enix, or Disney? I’m just kind of curious.)
A Wii port of Kingdom Hearts would be horrible. The idea of waving a Keyblade around SOUNDS cool, but when you think about the actual execution, it would be awful. Kingdom Hearts is a button mashing game. I have played arcade games where you had to duck and hide and parry sword slashes, and it was extremely frustrating. Imagine trying that against SEPHIROTH, or the E.S. No way, man.
It probably won’t be a prequel, but it will involve a lot of figuring out what happened in the past. Look at how much of a role memory has played in the series already. It will most likely have elements of both a sequel and a prequel, as well as a side-story (they have to explain what happened to Riku for all this time, what happened to Xehanort, where Mickey got his Keyblade, and the last thing that Nomura mentioned which eludes me).
on 03 May 2007 at 3:24 am 44. Sephoroth
Meh, I don’t really care if Sora is in it or not. As long as the plot is intensive and there is good gameplay, I’ll be happy. I also often like it when they show different perspectives to a story so Sora’s presence isn’t too important to me.
on 03 May 2007 at 2:33 am 43. Sydney
I think the dumbest thing to do is:
Is put the game on Wii {I could deal with this}
Change the main characters
make it a prequel
This will substantially loose money for kingdom hearts.I and many other million fans will not even buy the game if it is one of the following. I personally am not much of a final fantasy fan because of there many character changes…
There are people posting similar post stating they will not buy the game without sora, and I completely agree.I love the game because of the characters and as the new slogan goes…no sora no game.

I left a rather lengthy theory on Xehanort and his connection to the Chasers on another page (the comments on the video of the E.S. fight, specifically).
on 01 May 2007 at 5:27 am 34. Riku Fangirl
Can’t WAIT for KH3!!!
Maybe the reason why Xehanort wound up with ‘a shattered memory’ has something to do with him being involved with the keyblade war?
Perhaps, at one stage, he was a keyblade bearer himself? The one who brought chaos?
I was working on my own KH game idea, Boundary Alliance. But I think it’s gonna need some work…
on 01 May 2007 at 5:01 am 33. Shakespeare
Also, ‘KH3′ won’t be coming out for a while, so there will be more time for prices to drop and for more people to get PS3s.
Besides; Blu-Ray Discs hold more information, and thus a longer game can be made. And who doesn’t want a longer game? Especially those of us who don’t bat an eye after plunking down 70+ hours of our lives playing a game like Final Fantasy VII.
on 01 May 2007 at 12:28 am 32. Kairi's blade
but does anyone care that it may only be for the ps3
some people play games for the graphics and if it comes out on another system like the DS then some people will not get it
and refering back to kh being made for the japanese, i can see why he might make kh3 for ps3. most people in japan may have a ps3.
on 30 Apr 2007 at 9:09 pm 31. Jon
ok Kh3 won’t be in the past but it will probably have a lot to do with past events and might even have a world that is in the past like Timeless River in KH2 if anything it will be right after KH2 unless they have another chain of memories type of game
the knew series will probably be dealing with Xehanort and th e knights and since you see mickey at the end of the final mix secret video it will probably have something to do with him to
a theory for part of kh3 since maleficent said she wanted to take the castle in the world that never was it will it will most likely be in kh3 and because it is close to the dark realm it will probably be a direct link to it in kh3
and heres to hoping kh3 will be on Wii to since PS3 is so damn expensive
