PlayStation 3 Compatibility Website
As more people have a PlayStation 3 now, I figured this would be more useful now than it was at the time, so I reposted it. The compatibility issue only applies to people with backwards compatible PS3s that don’t include the Emotion Engine.
Also, a few people asked about it anyway.
Sony recently put up a website for people to check the compatibility of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games with PlayStation 3:
Your version of Kingdom Hearts may result in problems but Kingdom Hearts II shouldn’t. You need to check your product code (found on the spine of the box or on the disk) first. Click to enlarge:
Riku Edit: Apparently if you have the latest software update, codes SCES-50968 and SCES-50969 now run without problems. SCES-50967, previously unlisted, has minor issues. SCES-50970 still has major noticeable issues, and apparently SCES-50971 also does now too. Any codes beginning SLUS should work without issues.

Lol. We already know we can play PS1 and PS2 games on PS3. I play KH2 on my PS3 about 1 year ago. But this is great! I would hope KH3 would come to PS3.

Whoot, I have SLUS, so I’m all good! I can’t wait to get my PS3 so I can play some PS2 games that didn’t work after I broke my PS2. xD

Mine’s SCES-50967, which would be annoying, except for the fact that a guy on eBay screwed me over when I got my PS3 claiming it was the 60GB version. It’s actually the 40GB version with an upgraded to 60GB HD, which means that it’s not backwards compatible at all and I payed more than I should’ve done for it.

i have an 80g, so i think its backwards compatable. though the last time i tried to fight the huge heartless in the space paranoids in kh2, the game glitched and i couldnt beat it so i had to start a new file.

Sorry - 40GB is the only type that isn’t backwards compatible (which is another reason why I’m so annoyed with that guy). If you already have a PS2, just keep using that.

They can in a sense. You need a special device who’s name escapes me at the momement. You hook it up to your PS2, put the foreign game in and voila! It should work. If I remember the name i’ll post it here.

I can do nothing about Staff Profiles. Only Sora has the ability to accept/deny/change the privelidges, and as he’s abandoned the site, Kota and I are the only people with rights to post news. You can post drafts of news which can be reviewed, and, if good enough, they’ll be posted under your name on the main page.
I say that, Aerith and I are the only two editors (except Sora) and Aerith left quite a long time ago.
Leaving it up to me, and as I’m not committed to this site much at all anymore, there are over 200 unread post drafts that I’ll probably never go through.
This site is slowly dying, and if Sora doesn’t return, it’ll be gone in a couple of months.
As for an FFVIII sequel, FFVIII had a “complete story” whereas FFVII always left it open to more possibilities. I doubt they’ll ever make a sequel to FFVIII. FFIX on the other hand, I would love to see a sequel to, although there are far less possibilities of stories available than FFVII had.
FFVIII and FFIX could both have prequels. I’d love to see more history behind the stories.

The FFVII Sequel was Advent Children. We’re not talking about remakes here.
They are going through the series for the 20th Anniversary remaking all of the older Final Fantasies, currently up to FFIV. Tetsuya said a few years ago that he might make a remake of FFVII if he finishes many of his other projects. Since then he’s said he wants to concentrate more on Kingdom Hearts than Final Fantasy, but that doesn’t mean the FFXIII will be the last.
A lot people have assumed FFXIII will be the last purely because Tetsura Nomura “likes the number 13″, but it’s purely a rumour.

They are making a remake of ff7 it will be for ps3. Check on youtube or gametrailers, there is a trailer of the game. It was also in FF7 crisis core ending.

Na, i doubt they’re gunna remake FFVII. Tht special cutscene at the end of crisis core was just the intro to the original FFVII bt wit updated graphics. Looked pretty much the same as the TECH DEMO tht square-enix done for the PS3…just a DEMO!!!

and it only tells you to go on to play FFVII after finishing crisis core…not ‘we’re gonna remake FFVII soon’

Although it was originally purely for the PS3 Tech Demo, Tetsuya said in a following interview that, as there was such high demand for a remake and everyone’s hopes were raised, he would consider creating one after all his major projects were complete.
Admittedly that was about 2-3 years ago now…

Nope, but even if I did, he wouldn’t do much about it. He’ll only let people he really trusts edit the site, and as he hasn’t been around, he won’t have seen all of you guys and whether you’d be suitable to take up another editor post.
In summer I may make my own site, as this site is on track to die out completely. Already fewer people are visiting and/or commenting, and personally I see no reason to attempt to redeem it.
