PlayStation 3 Compatibility Website
As more people have a PlayStation 3 now, I figured this would be more useful now than it was at the time, so I reposted it. The compatibility issue only applies to people with backwards compatible PS3s that don’t include the Emotion Engine.
Also, a few people asked about it anyway.
Sony recently put up a website for people to check the compatibility of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games with PlayStation 3:
Your version of Kingdom Hearts may result in problems but Kingdom Hearts II shouldn’t. You need to check your product code (found on the spine of the box or on the disk) first. Click to enlarge:
Riku Edit: Apparently if you have the latest software update, codes SCES-50968 and SCES-50969 now run without problems. SCES-50967, previously unlisted, has minor issues. SCES-50970 still has major noticeable issues, and apparently SCES-50971 also does now too. Any codes beginning SLUS should work without issues.

when i get my ps3 i will keep my ps2 just in case so i still play all my ps2 games

Sorry - 40GB is the only type that isn’t backwards compatible (which is another reason why I’m so annoyed with that guy). If you already have a PS2, just keep using that.

i have an 80g, so i think its backwards compatable. though the last time i tried to fight the huge heartless in the space paranoids in kh2, the game glitched and i couldnt beat it so i had to start a new file.

Mine’s SCES-50967, which would be annoying, except for the fact that a guy on eBay screwed me over when I got my PS3 claiming it was the 60GB version. It’s actually the 40GB version with an upgraded to 60GB HD, which means that it’s not backwards compatible at all and I payed more than I should’ve done for it.

Whoot, I have SLUS, so I’m all good! I can’t wait to get my PS3 so I can play some PS2 games that didn’t work after I broke my PS2. xD

Lol. We already know we can play PS1 and PS2 games on PS3. I play KH2 on my PS3 about 1 year ago. But this is great! I would hope KH3 would come to PS3.
