Scenario Mysteries Interview

TheWertle has struck again! This time with an excellent interview with Tetsuya Nomura from Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ Ultimania called “Scenario Mysteries”, in which he confirms the Enigmatic Soldier’s name as Terra!

In Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+, many mysteries are answered but many new mysteries are also born.

In this version, things relating to additional scenes are included, but during the story there are some questions that pop up, so we’ll see if Nomura can point us in the right direction.

Question: In the original Kingdom Hearts, the King searches for a Keyblade in the Realm of Darkness, but when he meets Ansem the Wise, is the Realm of Light Keyblade he has the one that Sora is currently using?

Nomura: No. The King has the ability to use Keyblades from both the Realms of Darkness and of Light. This is an important point - There isn’t just one Keyblade from each world, but just as many as there are people with qualified hearts.

Question: During the meetings, the members of Organization XIII are sitting in chairs. Is the height of these chairs determined by things like their skills and abilities?

Nomura: No. The height of the chairs is not fixated - They move. That is to say that the height is up to each person. The leader, Xemnas, is always the highest, and to be at the same height as him would give that member a pretty bad feeling, so the other members wouldn’t do that. *Laughs*

Question: At the end of Sora and Riku’s stories in Re: Chain of Memories, Roxas looks back while Hayner and the rest are walking and eating ice-cream, and without seeming to care, Hayner and the others continue walking. Is this because they can’t see Roxas?

Nomura: Well it’s just because they don’t know Roxas that they don’t notice him, not because they can’t see him. At that time, right after Xemnas explains Roxas’ name, Axel says to leave things to him. Then, Roxas seems jealous of how Hayner and the others are enjoying themselves while eating ice-cream, and Axel interprets this as him wanting some ice-cream, so he is obliged to go buy him some.

Question: In the real Twilight Town, didn’t Roxas cross paths with Hayner and the others and make aquaintances with them?

Nomura: I suppose. You can think whatever you want about that.

Question: What triggered Roxas’ separation from the Organization?

Nomura: As he kept having recurring dreams of Sora, someone he didn’t know, he felt he needed to leave the Organization to find out who these people he didn’t know were. As Axel didn’t want him to go, he didn’t tell Sora about Roxas in Castle Oblivion, did he?

Question: In Riku’s ending in Re: Chain of Memories, could you tell us the meaning of the scene where the King and Riku are walking together and Riku suddenly plops down.

Nomura: That’s because Riku realized he couldn’t completely get rid of the Darkness inside of him. The King mentioned in Kingdom Hearts II that as Riku held Xehanort’s Heartless in his heart, he disappeared from the King’s sight. It’s a sort of foreshadowing. In this scene, the King’s face looks worried for a moment because he felt that Riku might eventually no longer be there. Riku headed towards DiZ in order to restore Sora’s memories to normal, but in the end, his departure from the King was so that he wouldn’t show his preparations to use the Darkness.

Question: Could you tell us at what point Riku covered his eyes?

Nomura: When he departed from the King. You don’t know after the scene, but in Riku’s ending in Re: Chain of Memories, when he comes to wherever DiZ is, he’s already covered his eyes.

Question: Please confirm some things about Castle Oblivion. In the additional event “The Truth about the Chamber of Sleep”, you can gather from Xigbar and Zexion’s conversation that Castle Oblivion existed in the Inbetween Realm before the birth of the Organization. The Organization then found it and used it for experiments about memories and to look for the Chamber of Awakening, right?

Nomura: Yes. Since their conversation was about Marluxia’s entry, they discovered the Castle before that. In fact, its use, according to Secret Ansem Report 7, was for only 13 Organization Members. Naminé awoke in Castle Oblivion, but as she and Roxas were born at the same time, half of the Organization moved to the Castle.

Question: In the additional event “To Put an End to Everything”, Sora says “It should have been easy to say thanks to Naminé, but I couldn’t say it”. At this point in time, does Sora remember the things that happened with Naminé?

Nomura: If he remembers, it’s because Naminé’s existence was made possible by Sora, and when Naminé and Roxas return to Kairi and Sora, many things were connected. Since Sora never got to say thanks to Naminé, please think of that as a hint.

Question: In the additional event “Farewell to a Friend”, there’s a scene where Axel tells Roxas “You really do have a heart, don’t you”. What is the actual case here?

Nomura: In this scene, it ends bringing up more mysteries about Roxas, so for the answer, maybe take care to follow your hunches well. It’s also related to Xehanort’s memories, but I can’t give any specifics now.

Question: We’d like to inquire about the new secret movie “Birth By Sleep”. In the new event “The Truth about the Chamber of Sleep”, Xigbar mentions a “group that wields Keyblades”. Is he talking about the 3 armored people in the movie?

Nomura: Yes, Xigbar witnessed them when he was a disciple to Ansem the Wise.

Question: The Lingering Sentiment (Enigmatic Soldier) is the same as the armored youth in the movie, but when he fights Sora he mentions “Aqua” and “Ven”. Are those the names of the other 2?

Nomura: Yes, the blue haired girl is Aqua.

Question: What is the armored youth’s name?

Nomura: His name appeared once in code in the 2006 Tokyo Game Show Promotional Video. Also, Ven is actually a nickname, but his real name is a little bit longer. Sora, Riku, and Kairi’s names can be seen as “Sky, Land, and Sea” respectively. The 3 armored people’s names take the shape of different properties of the world, “Water, Wind, and Earth”.

Statement: Ven looks an awful lot like Roxas…

Nomura: I can’t give any specifics about that. He may just resemble him, and if there is a connection, Sora may be related too. What I can say right now is that these mysteries are all connected to the story.

Question: In the beginning, the armored youth’s eyes are blue, but at the end they change to gold. Is this revealing a change in him?

Nomura: I can’t give specifics about this either… I think everyone’s imaginations are pretty capable so please try and anticipate a lot of things.

   Oh and asforthe heartless guardian, Ansem/Xehanort was no ordinary heartless (he was king of the artificial heartlesses). Thats y he could manipulate his own shadow to be his guardian. Now in my early theories in this forum, when I was still known as “uknown,” I once sed that the Dark Warrior that manifested from the bald man in “birth by sleep” could have been “his heartless guardian.” but these heartless guardians r pretty much their shadows, much like Sora’s “darkside heartless,” I’m guessing, that had been manipulated and taken control of. This may require being a storng heartless or, possesing the power of darkness.

   Um guys… I don’t knowwhether ur comparing Xehanort and Xemnas with the real ansem or the Xehnaort/Ansem, but…if u look closely, Xehanort and Xemnas, looks exactly like Ansem/Xehanort. The eye color may seem different among them, but if u could see, their eyes change to more of an orange to red color when they get tense (reference to the first game). But they’re all basically yellow orange. Both Xemnas and Xehanort look exactly like Ansem/Xehanort only with his bangs slicked back. But its him. I mean Xehanort is even more of Ansem than Xemnas, because Ansem is Xehanort himself.

   Hey if xehanorts heartless took human form wouldnt he still have a spirit cause it seems there was another heartless and the heartless was defeated and ansem the wise took his form to go undercover and get revenge it may have helped he said his body was too frail for such an adventure do you think my theory of comment 1069 could work cause i really think that would work dont you?

   I mean since either xehanort or xemnas looks more like ansem also it seems that xemnas’s password was another maybe he was reborn cause if xemnas is another and ansem is no heart then which is which now we can see there is supposedly three forms of xehanort,xehanort,his heartless and his nobody Xemnas,now we do know that when xehanorts x is removed it creates no heart and another but they couldnt use those as the names so they had him take ansem the wises name there is no x in ansem so there must be no heart.Maybe The fourth knight would be as xemnas except with his real self and that terra passed his spirit on to xemnas well xemnas’s real self which i am guessing has a heart and that it is the light in terra that is within xemnas since he almost fell into eternal darkness but did not and that darkness of xehanort(ansem) tried to get him to befall eternal darkness.I will tell the outcome of this possible theory in my next post.

   Like Diz said, he spent a long amount of time in the Realm of Darkness where Xehanort banished him. He used the power of the Darkness to change his appearance. Outfit, Eyes, Skin, and all. To anwswer you, I have no clue what the deal is with a Heartless Guardian. I’ve never heard of a Heartless that had a Heartless Guardian. That seems a little too eerie. All in all, Ansem the Wise, Ansem(Xehanort’s Heartless), and Xemnas all have the same eye color:yellow. But in the cutscene in Kingdom Hearts 2 when we saw Xehanort for the first time, he looked to have red eyes. He was too far away to make an accurate description. But he looks more like Xemnas than Ansem. I don’t think the inscription on the Heartless’ sword really means much relating to the story. It’s just another Heartless. Although, I would like to know what the inscription is about too.

   Ace,Yeah i know they are different but when you look at the bottom picture and the others on the page it seems he can shapeshift also i think that is somewhat something strange about ansem(xehanort) because in the picture of mine his skin seems to be lighter and if ansem is his heartless hwo was that giant heartless behind him that eventually almost connected to him and also they say that xehanort and ansem the wise had same eye color but for real ansem the wises eyes are yellow and in the diz picture his eye shown is red and his skin is also darker and ansem pictures with his heartless i guess,had red eye color too,but in kh1 where he takes riku form it seemed his eyes were yellow.
   If we knew what that heartlesses sword said i wonder if it would be a clue or not.

   Shadow, click my name. I posted a picture of Ansem’s Heartless Guardian. The Heartless you posted was just another type of Heartless, and in my opinion the strongest one. I don’t really see any similarities between the two. Except that they’re both Heartless. Terra looks hauntingly like Xehanort/Xemnas. The strange thing is, not one of them looks like Ansem. Ansem & Xemnas had yellow eyes, Xehanort looked to have red eyes. But Terra’s eyes changed from Blue to Yellow.

   Well Thimien; I’m with you on how Roxas cannot be Ven, since there’s not enough evidence supporting that he is. I mean it was the same person who designed Roxas that designed Ven. So that may explain y they look alike. Other than that, they have a connection (Roxas - Ven). I mean ppl tend to think that their connections mean its the actual person themselves. But whats the point of saying, “they are connected” when they r themselves.

   but as for xehanort being a nobody is A BIG NO. The evidence is all around u in the game, form events to character relationships. But the main source is the logic concept of the game along with Ansem’s reports. I mean it sed that Xhenaort was found by Ansem, made his apprentice along with others. Then he became a “HEARTLESS” after an experiment that went wrong. Now think about this, a heartless is a different being, and nobody is an entirely different being as well. Now how could a nobody (you say) just suddenly turn into a heartless? I mean thats impossile. In order for a person to turn into a heartless, was he had to have a heart to begin with, and lose it in darkness. But as for nobodies, they don’t have a heart, so they can’t turn into heartlesses.

   Now due to Xehanort becoming a heartless, he also produced a nobody (Xemnas). Now there’s something wrong here. A nobody cannot produce another nobody, because there wouldn’t be anything left of that being. To produce a nobody u would have to have a body, but in this case, if u sed that Xehanort was already a nobody he cannot produce Xemnas.

   This is y you’re theory of Xehanort being a nobody is awkward and farfetched.

   Now the only evidence I’ve recieved from u was that the fact that Xehanort’s name has an X on it. But thats not always the case. The X s only for the nobodies who joined the “brotherhood,” organization XIII. And so not all nobodies have X’s in their names. Even Namine doesn’t have an X in her name. As for his name having an X, ITS JUST THERE. Its just part of his name, the way Nomura named him. WEhat else were u suppose to name him with the anagram of no heart? and who in the world would go by the name NO HEART? Now u get it?

   How’s that for evidences and facts ^_^

    Thimien, ok, I know what you mean dude. I just thought you were attacking me, or something. Ok, let me see if I can explain this. Roxas looks hauntingly like Ven. I started out with a theory of reincarnation, which still hasn’t left my head, of Ven being reborn into Roxas. Now, I thought about the similarities, and read about Ansem’s Reports about the Heart, Body, and Soul of a person. When they allow Darkness in their heart, the heart leaves the body, and becomes a Heartless. The empty shell left behind moves around and functions on its own as a nobody, and what of the soul. Certainly it has to go somewhere. Remember in Kingdom Hearts, when Kairi lost her heart, she still had a bit of life within her. In Neverland when Sora saw Kairi, she moved her hand just a bit.

    Now, in Birth by Sleep, I think when The Old Man froze Ven, and in the process took his heart and used it to open Kingdom Hearts. Ven moved his eyes slightly, and I think died shortly afterward. His heart was already in Kingdom Hearts, and his soul was passed onto Sora. Since Sora was the only one with a Keyblade at the time, Ven’s Soul was within him. He released his own heart with Riku’s Keyblade, along with Kairi’s and Ven’s. Kairi created a new vessel for Sora’s Body while Ven’s Soul took form into Roxas. But because Sora spent a short time as a Heartless, Roxas had no memory of who he was. There was a cutscene in KH2 Final Mix where Xemnas gave Roxas his name. Like Nomura stated, the knights had a connection to Xemnas.

    Also hi in japanese can mean fire and light so the fourth knights element must be fire as in also light so maybe the fourths name is ignis no flamma.

    Ansem made an artificial heartless machine and if it was ansem that made it hwo was the examination written on it referring to,maybe it was Xemnas. Hey maybe Xemnas is the light in xehanort and ansem is the darkness,maybe terra is still asleep and his darkness(heartless) can not remember anything cause the darkness has taken him,hey maybe ansem the wise took ansems form to stop them and get revenge,maybe as soon as ansem was defeated he came back as terra then if the nobody is the spirit of him he must be whole by now,cause the nobody and heartless were defeated and he was reborn,It was referring to Xemnas because he almost fell into eternal darkness and the armor of xemnas kind of gives a clue maybe Xemnas was the fourth knight but as his real self like maybe terra also passed his spirit on to someone,BIRTH BY SLEEP.

    Bond of flame keyblade was given to sora by Axel,Axel may have been a keyblade wielder i mean it is bond of flame it kinda seems like he would be able to wield it yet he did not in the games.

    Hey you guys what was each element of magic did the bald guy use on the three armored people because he didnt get to use magic on aqua did he i mean first it was earth then wind and then Ice or blizzard or something cause there is a fourth knight after seeing the reflection in aquas helmet.

    But then again there might have been a different spell hed used to lift keyblades and such hmm.

    no Ace… look im not saying it wrong..theorys dont need to be backed up… because they are what you think might be the truth.

    What im saying and you guys can think im wrong… is that you aer not backing your Theory of saying Roxas is Ven… because… how can you? there is nothing in KH2 or KH1 that will ever tell you Roxas might be Ven… if you can back up what your posting with something that someone said in game or on an interview, then yeah il say “thats a good point Ace” but you guys are imagining that yeah maybe its this… and posting it… so dont tell me your backing stuff up, cause your not… Tell me why you think its true, with some sort of evidence that would make you believe what your writing… not by saying just by saying… To be honest the only thing you can say about Ven and Roxas.. they look alike… thats it.

    And what probably got to me was… i posted that theory about Xehanort… and people went strait on top of me, and said no lol when i posted evedence that it actualy might be true… so if you go back and reed my posts… youl see what i mean. Just because Xemnas is Xehanorts Nobody, does not mean Xehanort coudnt be a nobody… because in game theory…. alot has hpn in KH that was meant to be impossable… “and Xemnas was not all bad as everyone thinks…” and if you cant see that about xemnas then i think you guys dont have the view for KHs sorry lol. Its not about saying your wrong because of this and that, its about posting opinions and saying why. But sorry Roxas = Ven i just had to go on top of that… cause theres no way you can connect does 2 names apart from their look.

    And there was nothing in any of the games to say Ven was Frozen in time… and Castle oblivion, has history i know… but the organasation just ended up there because Namine woke up there. Anyways im off , i type to much… lol

    Diz,So what your saying is that he used the power of darkness to change his appearance hwo did he appear as thats just what i have been thinking is that he changed his appearance and later he took the wrapping off his face and it was him but what i am trying to say is if ansem only did reports
    1-8 and real ansem did zero then how come it says hes a heartless with human form?interesting

    Also when he was in castle oblivion as Diz ansem heartless was there too at the same time and all.

    Diz and Ansem r one one and the same person. There is no nobody, nor heartless concept within this issue. Its him by himself. He only had darker skin, and no beard was because he used the power of darkness to change his appearance.

    Xehanort’s Heartless took the name Ansem, the name of his former master Ansem the Wise, and wrote reports about Darkness of the Heart, and Heartless. Under Ansem the Wise, Xehanort volunteered as a Test Subject for Ansem the Wise’s Darkness of the Heart experiments in order to try to regain his memories. But according to Ansem the Wise:

    My study of the “darkness of the heart” began with a simple psychological test and quickly snowballed. Spurred on by my youngest apprentice, Ienzo, I constructed a massive laboratory in the basement of my castle. Unbeknownst to me, my six apprentices began collecting a large number of subjects on which to perform dangerous experiments into the “darkness of the heart.”

    As soon as I found out, I called my apprentices together and ordered them not only to cease their studies, but to destroy the results of their research thus far. What on earth was happening within the hearts of my six beloved apprentices? While pursuing the mystery of the darkness of the heart, could they have strayed into its depths?

    Yeah, Radiant Garden wasn’t what it used to be after Maleficent ruled over it. Ansem the Wise ruled over Radiant Garden, and it truly was a paradise until Xehanort used the powers of Darkness to banish Ansem the Wise to the Dark Realm and ruled over Radiant Garden himself. Like Leon said, “Ansem(Xehanort’s Heartless) was a wise man(they didn’t know about Xehanort stealing Ansem’s Identity) who eventually destroyed his own world because of the Darkness within.

    Yeah, Ansem the Wise didn’t turn into a Heartless. It’s all in Ansem Report #3.

    “Here, in the realm of nothingness to which I have been relegated. Darkness in the midst of nothing. “Darkness in Zero.” Thus I shall be known as DiZ. Discarding the stolen name “Ansem”! And going in search of revenge.”

    Hence the outfit he was wearing, and why his skin was so dark and the Darkness sorta evaporated from his skin when he removed the bandages. Being trapped in the Realm of Darkness must’ve had some effect on him.

    Theory:On report 13 he starts to wonder of nobodies.Also report 12 says he as a heartless has KEPT THE MEMORIES OF BEFORE…
    Also the battle with supposedly Unknown has been said a lot lately that the unknown was xemnas but its terra isnt it?Ansem or Ansem the wise,???,has said that radiant garden is paradise in the first report of game two…
    Also Xehanort had phsychological tests done he may have figured some of his thoughts and memories and ansem the wise may have even taken form of him.
    I have come to find that report zero is a real report and not one after reading report two.It is also saying within that report that ansem the wise only wrote zero and that xehanort now apparently thinks he is ansem and is said caused by his foolish experiments and the fact that xehanort(ansem) wrote 1-8.I will continue this in a later post.

    Sorry about saying the reports on khinsider were changed cause i went to kh2 reports and i just noticed it had one or something i guess i made a mistake hahaha,dammit,i guess the reports in kh2 are more helpful though.:)
