Scenario Mysteries Interview
TheWertle has struck again! This time with an excellent interview with Tetsuya Nomura from Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ Ultimania called “Scenario Mysteries”, in which he confirms the Enigmatic Soldier’s name as Terra!
In Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+, many mysteries are answered but many new mysteries are also born.
In this version, things relating to additional scenes are included, but during the story there are some questions that pop up, so we’ll see if Nomura can point us in the right direction.
Question: In the original Kingdom Hearts, the King searches for a Keyblade in the Realm of Darkness, but when he meets Ansem the Wise, is the Realm of Light Keyblade he has the one that Sora is currently using?
Nomura: No. The King has the ability to use Keyblades from both the Realms of Darkness and of Light. This is an important point - There isn’t just one Keyblade from each world, but just as many as there are people with qualified hearts.
Question: During the meetings, the members of Organization XIII are sitting in chairs. Is the height of these chairs determined by things like their skills and abilities?
Nomura: No. The height of the chairs is not fixated - They move. That is to say that the height is up to each person. The leader, Xemnas, is always the highest, and to be at the same height as him would give that member a pretty bad feeling, so the other members wouldn’t do that. *Laughs*
Question: At the end of Sora and Riku’s stories in Re: Chain of Memories, Roxas looks back while Hayner and the rest are walking and eating ice-cream, and without seeming to care, Hayner and the others continue walking. Is this because they can’t see Roxas?
Nomura: Well it’s just because they don’t know Roxas that they don’t notice him, not because they can’t see him. At that time, right after Xemnas explains Roxas’ name, Axel says to leave things to him. Then, Roxas seems jealous of how Hayner and the others are enjoying themselves while eating ice-cream, and Axel interprets this as him wanting some ice-cream, so he is obliged to go buy him some.
Question: In the real Twilight Town, didn’t Roxas cross paths with Hayner and the others and make aquaintances with them?
Nomura: I suppose. You can think whatever you want about that.
Question: What triggered Roxas’ separation from the Organization?
Nomura: As he kept having recurring dreams of Sora, someone he didn’t know, he felt he needed to leave the Organization to find out who these people he didn’t know were. As Axel didn’t want him to go, he didn’t tell Sora about Roxas in Castle Oblivion, did he?
Question: In Riku’s ending in Re: Chain of Memories, could you tell us the meaning of the scene where the King and Riku are walking together and Riku suddenly plops down.
Nomura: That’s because Riku realized he couldn’t completely get rid of the Darkness inside of him. The King mentioned in Kingdom Hearts II that as Riku held Xehanort’s Heartless in his heart, he disappeared from the King’s sight. It’s a sort of foreshadowing. In this scene, the King’s face looks worried for a moment because he felt that Riku might eventually no longer be there. Riku headed towards DiZ in order to restore Sora’s memories to normal, but in the end, his departure from the King was so that he wouldn’t show his preparations to use the Darkness.
Question: Could you tell us at what point Riku covered his eyes?
Nomura: When he departed from the King. You don’t know after the scene, but in Riku’s ending in Re: Chain of Memories, when he comes to wherever DiZ is, he’s already covered his eyes.
Question: Please confirm some things about Castle Oblivion. In the additional event “The Truth about the Chamber of Sleep”, you can gather from Xigbar and Zexion’s conversation that Castle Oblivion existed in the Inbetween Realm before the birth of the Organization. The Organization then found it and used it for experiments about memories and to look for the Chamber of Awakening, right?
Nomura: Yes. Since their conversation was about Marluxia’s entry, they discovered the Castle before that. In fact, its use, according to Secret Ansem Report 7, was for only 13 Organization Members. Naminé awoke in Castle Oblivion, but as she and Roxas were born at the same time, half of the Organization moved to the Castle.
Question: In the additional event “To Put an End to Everything”, Sora says “It should have been easy to say thanks to Naminé, but I couldn’t say it”. At this point in time, does Sora remember the things that happened with Naminé?
Nomura: If he remembers, it’s because Naminé’s existence was made possible by Sora, and when Naminé and Roxas return to Kairi and Sora, many things were connected. Since Sora never got to say thanks to Naminé, please think of that as a hint.
Question: In the additional event “Farewell to a Friend”, there’s a scene where Axel tells Roxas “You really do have a heart, don’t you”. What is the actual case here?
Nomura: In this scene, it ends bringing up more mysteries about Roxas, so for the answer, maybe take care to follow your hunches well. It’s also related to Xehanort’s memories, but I can’t give any specifics now.
Question: We’d like to inquire about the new secret movie “Birth By Sleep”. In the new event “The Truth about the Chamber of Sleep”, Xigbar mentions a “group that wields Keyblades”. Is he talking about the 3 armored people in the movie?
Nomura: Yes, Xigbar witnessed them when he was a disciple to Ansem the Wise.
Question: The Lingering Sentiment (Enigmatic Soldier) is the same as the armored youth in the movie, but when he fights Sora he mentions “Aqua” and “Ven”. Are those the names of the other 2?
Nomura: Yes, the blue haired girl is Aqua.
Question: What is the armored youth’s name?
Nomura: His name appeared once in code in the 2006 Tokyo Game Show Promotional Video. Also, Ven is actually a nickname, but his real name is a little bit longer. Sora, Riku, and Kairi’s names can be seen as “Sky, Land, and Sea” respectively. The 3 armored people’s names take the shape of different properties of the world, “Water, Wind, and Earth”.
Statement: Ven looks an awful lot like Roxas…
Nomura: I can’t give any specifics about that. He may just resemble him, and if there is a connection, Sora may be related too. What I can say right now is that these mysteries are all connected to the story.
Question: In the beginning, the armored youth’s eyes are blue, but at the end they change to gold. Is this revealing a change in him?
Nomura: I can’t give specifics about this either… I think everyone’s imaginations are pretty capable so please try and anticipate a lot of things.
Translated by TheWertle. I edited and corrected spelling and grammar.
- In the photo below, it shows a screenshot of the code that flowed across the screen for a moment during the Promotional Video at the Tokyo Game Show 2006. It has been decoded as:
“Master Xehanort’s Avenger, his name is Terra.”
“Not yet awakened, he is connected to those two.”
Terra

Hearts of Darkness, I think you got confused. Sasuke is trying to avenge his clan not Itachi. On a similar subject, have you noticed that Sasuke is a lot like Riku? Both of them have been blinded by something that caused they wanted, causing them to become evil. Also, both of them got their asses kicked by their best friends. The only difference is that Sasuke is STILL evil. By the way, if Terra is a good guy and hates Xehanort then why did he fight Sora?
on 18 May 2007 at 1:00 am 119. Hi
theory:i think that terra can have a relation with the bald guy but im not sure with riku i thought i saw a resemblence between xehanort and terra you see the bald guys eyes turn yellow and terras also i hear and so i think that if the bald guy is xehanort and without the x means no heart and if terras someway related to riku in someway possibly having something to do with rikus nobody like ven having relation with roxas so maybe terra is somehow xehanort like he somehow got to become one of ansems apprentices in a time when he got a little older and his hair turned white or grey or whatever it is and eventually in the future he found a way to go back in time for some reason and xehanort is terras nobody like his darkside cause you see riku gave in to the darkness like his darkside having no heart and though if the bald guy is xehanort meaning no heart than how does he make a heartless and if you need a heart to weild a keyblade how does he unless he still does maybe and makes a heartless but his heartless may be able to hold a keyblade because its terras nobody and he could hold a keyblade and it was different because its a keyblade of the dark maybe having something to do with when mickey and riku were in the dark realm and terra is the side of light when it comes to xehanort or something so he held a different keyblade and you see that he holds rikus way to the dawn keyblade also besides the one we saw him holding in final mix and things like that

I don’t read Naruto (I stopped buying Shonen Jump around the Chunin exams), but that phrasing still strikes me as odd, since (to me, anyway) it implies that Sasuke is seeking vengeance on his [Itachi’s] behalf, and thus ‘avenging’ him. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying it doesn’t sound right to me according to my interpretation of the word ‘avenger’.

come to rumors please and don’t ask why…

Hey guy! ready for me to make a Naruto (the anime) refrence? Sasuka wanted to kill his older bother because his brother killed Sasuke’s whole family (and everyone around him for that matter). After that, he called himself Itachi’s, or his older bothers, avenger. this totally supports my idea that Xahanort and the three knights were all friends at one point. But then Xahanort could have destroyed the island when he was overcome by darkness and now Terra just wants to kill him.
Is this any good? P.S., sorry for the Naruto refrence.

Tami, my advice would be to actually read the interview you’re posting on:
The 3 armored people’s names take the shape of different properties of the world, “Water, Wind, and Earth”.
on 17 May 2007 at 3:09 pm 108. Ven
Yeh riku I think rite to like U know Bald guy part were summons another guy from Him Look another aka Xehanort and look No Heart rite maybe can make people with No Hearts like made nobodys nah thats stupid But Im sure Bald Guy is Xehanort and He summons another or maybe Xehanort not real name who ever knows =] rember I think That Xehanort made Org 13 then desract Sora from finding him what he’s up to guyys still dont know really stuff about Ansem to… sorri not good at spelling =P
on 17 May 2007 at 2:58 pm 107. Tami
man, Terra sounds so strange to me cause in my language (portuguese) it means earth… and ven’s a nick? Maybe to ventilus and it could be something like wind in latin ^^’

Yeah, the other members came after the six apprentices formed the group. The neophytes don’t get much love from the older members, though…there’s a lot of resentment in the top 6 towards the younger members, like Marluxia.

“Another with No Heart” has been around since Nomura himself said it in mid-2006 in an interview:
on 17 May 2007 at 12:31 pm 104. Ace of Diamonds
Organization XIII is made up of Nobodies. The leader being Xehanort’s Nobody, Xemnas. We all know that Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Zexion, & Lexeaus, aren’t their real names. It’s Braig, Dilan, Ienzo, Even, & Eleaus. I believe Xigbar & Lexeaus were suppoed to be scouting new members, and when they did, they conducted the same experiments on themselves to turn themselves into Nobodies. Oblivion Riku, I don’t mean to sound like a jackass, but like I said in my previous post, I think the design on the Dark Soldier’s chest is just part of the costume. It does resemble a Heartless symbol, but I don’t think it connects that much to the story. I’m starting to believe that Xehanort is a character not yet to be seen. We obviously saw him for a brief moment in Kingdom Hearts 2, but who knew what he looked like in the past. The Keyblade War may have happened in the past, but not that far back into the past. I already stated this, but I wanna ensure it. Isn’t it strange how that in the 2 separate Secret Endings, the shadowy figure looked to have long hair, but now is just bald? What happened to the Keyblade the Armored Knights picked up? The Kingdom Key, The Way to Dawn, and Mickey’s Keyblade. Notice how, each of the Armored Soldiers used the Keyblade they marched into battle with. Because, I don’t think they would’ve been beaten the way they were if they fought with 2 Keyblades. The figure in both Secret Endings has to be Xehanort. The last time we saw the Old Man, he was rising up into the Blue Kingdom Hearts. Later, in the future, Ansem the Wise found him as a youthful man. Maybe Kingdom Hearts has more power to it.
on 17 May 2007 at 12:02 pm 103. vinan123
So if Ansem only started out with six apprentices, where did the rest of Organization 13 (besides Roxas) come from?
on 17 May 2007 at 6:40 am 102. Shakespeare
Oblivion, I finally got around to answering your posts in Post 69…I hope I don’t need to reiterate. (It’s on page 3, btw.) But yeah, the names and the anagrams have been known for a while, it’s been on the internet for, like, 2 years now…and the game gives you the tools to figure it out for yourself by showing you what the apprentices names were in one of the Secret Ansem Reports, and by showing you that Roxas is Sora’s Nobody.
Nomura likes to make us figure things out on our own…lol
on 17 May 2007 at 6:34 am 101. Shakespeare
OblivionRiku, people have known the ‘No Heart’ thing ever since we knew Xehanort’s name. And he does type ‘Another’…it’s in blocky letters, but if you pause it and look, you can make it out.
And I have been saying for a while that the man in the ‘Heartless Armor’ is Xehanort…but the old man could quite possibly be Xehanort from the future, corrupting his past self in some sort of strange cycle and/or a bid for power in the future that he knows (by changing the past, he would alter his presence, just like Maleficent and Pete did in the Hall of the Cornerstone by getting into Timeless River). As I’ve been saying, the realm where the battle in the KH2:FM+ video takes place might be completely separate from time, so such a thing could be possible.
on 17 May 2007 at 6:31 am 100. OblivionRiku
Check post #56, talks more about my Anagram theory.
Read some of my theories. they might make sence, all of them are on page 2.
on 17 May 2007 at 6:30 am 99. Shakespeare
No, I think he’s the target of vengeance because he’s an enemy of Xehanort. (When I said ‘him’, I meant Xehanort…should have made that clearer, but they both want revenge…it’s just that Terra probably has a real reason to want revenge, that being Xehanort turning against his former allies.)
on 17 May 2007 at 6:29 am 98. OblivionRiku
Lol im the first to bring up the whole Xehanort = No Heart. and now everyones making it seemlike its a breakthru that they just discovered lol. And it also meaning “Another” really makes me wonder. Was that really wat he typed in the computer? i couldnt make out the letters.
im acually starting to rethink something in one my my theyories. I think Xehanort is the Red/Black knight (chaser) i mean think about it. b4 i said. i thought iut was the old man who ended up getting defeated by the chasers and forgot his memories so ansem took him in and got his memories back. now im starting to think that really it was the other person..Think about this. Xehanort means No Heart like i stated before. the red and black armor resembles sorta of a dark heartless armor..(NO HEART) Heartless! lol and also his name meaning another could explain when the bald guys splits into two..summoning ANOTHER person next to him. The red/black chaser who i now beilive is Xehanort…hell for all we know..They both could be Xehanort!!!
on 17 May 2007 at 2:35 am 97. bernaporto
so you think that terra is the target of the vegeance because he turns evil when is eyes become golden??
on 17 May 2007 at 2:32 am 96. Shakespeare
I still don’t think that the phrasing implies that Terra is the avenger…I think he is the target of the vengeance (what with him turning evil and betraying his allies and such).
But hey, I could be wrong.
on 17 May 2007 at 2:25 am 95. bernaporto
it really got me confused that Terra both hated Xehanort and was his avenger but though that seems to explain it it seems a bit far fetched
on 17 May 2007 at 2:22 am 94. bernaporto
i’m still not convinced that Xehanort would be Xehanort’s real name but it does make sense and i see no reason why not.
on 17 May 2007 at 2:22 am 93. Cloud
i think xahanort is an anagram for no heart or another with an x, similar to the organization 13. Also, i think that the old guy is xahanort and that the xahanort from KH 1 + CoM is a younger version of him. Remember not much is known about his past, a possible theory is that xahanort was once good and was taken over by darkness or heartless, hence terra being master xahanorts avenger, hes avenging his takeover from the darkness/heartless which transformed him, so in essence, the evil xahanort wouldnt be the true xahanort. he may have fought terra earlier before the events of KH 1 and lost his memory and decreased in age or somthing until he was a boy (i think), and showed up at Radiant Gardens possibly in a similar fashion to how ora showed up at traverse town. This is just a simple theory and is not a main theory of mine, remebr that there is no real story yet so well just have to wait and see… more theories to come!!!
on 17 May 2007 at 2:03 am 92. Shakespeare
((Gah, if this shows up twice for you all, sorry…but it hasn’t shown up at all for me.))
I don’t think that ‘Xehanort’ is an anagram for anything in Latin…unless we actually find a relevant word, I’m going to say that it’s not. (Any suggestions on words?)
And like I said, it was an idea that randomly came to me. I was trying to find a way that Xehanort could not only be tied to an element, but still have Xehanort be his real name, and that was the best I could come up with. (Since Xehanort /must/ be his real name, since Terra uses it when you meet him…)
I think the fact that ‘Another’ rearranges to ‘No Heart’ is a really cool coincidence, since in the video ‘An Old Friend’ (KH-Vids.net), Xemnas types in ‘Another’ as the password on the computer in Hollow Bastion. I think that if ‘No Heart’ was intended, and if Xehanort had lost his heart before Ansem the Wise found him, Ansem would have noticed that his apprentice was lacking a heart, especially considering all the research they did on him.
(Besides, there’s plenty of other stuff that ‘ehanort’ can rearrange into. ‘Not Hear’, ‘No Earth’ (? Hm…), ‘Nor Heat’…uh…’Earthon’…I’m bad at word jumbles and stuff.)
on 17 May 2007 at 1:54 am 91. vinan123
I think that everybody is over doing it with the whole ‘being named after the elements’ thing. For all we know, Xehanort’s real name could be John Doe.
