[UPDATE] Chain of Memories PS2 Remake Confirmed
Rumor Confirmation Alert.
Square-Enix has officially stated that a Chain of Memories remake will be heading for the PS2 this December. This is supposedly the same thing that the Japanese gamers got in Final Mix+, minus the whole Kingdom Hearts II part. The official name is “Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories” and will be released on December 2, 2008.
The story features Sora and companions meeting a mysterious man who leads them into a familiar looking castle following the events of the first Kingdom Hearts game. Along with Sora, Riku is also featured as a playable character in Chain of Memories. This version will feature the voice cast from the other PlayStation 2 releases, such as David Gallagher and Haley Joel Osment. The game will also contain four new mini-games.
Re: Chain of Memories is not yet rated and will retail for $29.99.
[Update] For those of you that were confused. Yes, we mean that this is coming to the US. I have no official word on EU.

Dubbing voices is the most expensive part, unless you’re hiring voice actors and actresses that are essentially remnants of the pornography business. This is why most games that are sub-par are voiced horribly.
Also, adding in a system for switching audio/subs is not as easy as it sounds, although S-E probably has a ton of libraries already written for handling it in their own titles.
Personally, I just wish developers would drop dubbing entirely, give me Japanese voices with English subs, bring the games over in a quarter of the time and $10 cheaper.

personaly i think that if they didnt dubb it then it wouldnt be worth buying because youd be reading sub titles instead of watching what is goin on and listing to it is sooo much better that reading. im mean i watch anime shows and like id rather listen to american ones than read while their speakin jap.

OMG finally i can’t wait i hope its harder too!!! lol it should also have some bonus content, like the BBS trailor at the end of fm+, i would like to earn that trailer rather than just donwload it. If they can’t, it would be nice to see a tournament option in the main menu with the org. battles in traditional KH style, not cards (like in FM+). I know its a joke, but that is what i wish regardless of whether or not it will come true

man think of the air milage that baby would have to go through. Oh well, its tough living the land down under when a lot of great games take nearly half a year to get to them. I also agree with you KH3obsessedXIII, I’d rather listen to english speaking anime than a subbed one with Japanese speech.

Hm. Interesting.
With no ‘Final-Mix’-rendition of ‘Kingdom-Hearts II’ coming to North-America, I suppose the additonal Marluxia-battle — and its accompanying theme-music — in ‘Re: CoM’ will compensate (assuming it was retained, of course). To a certain degree, at least.
The whole ‘four additional minigames’-thing is a tad intriguing, however. Perhaps they’ve incorporated the whole ‘Puzzle-Piece’ fetch-quest into the game. Don’t bet on it being anything related to the 13th-Order battles from the ‘Garden-of-Assemblage’, though.
Oh, and so much for ‘358/2 Days’ seeing its North-American release prior to 2009. Oh well. =P

I disagree with that sentiment. I mean it actually makes me rather mad that most of the games that ship out today still don’t have the Japanese audio track. Personally I think the voice acting in 99% of games and anime is completely and utterly awful. I speak some Japanese and prefer the way their voice actors and actresses sound, so I want to hear it in all its glory.

I’m sure things will be alright A&K. They got a bunch of games coming out in the next two years involving KH. KH3 I’m not sure on the details, but for sure 358/2 days will be out soon enough as will coded and this year in Japan and hopefull NA not too soon (North America instead of not announced) as will Birth By Sleep as well.

well DragoonKain i respect your oppinion but i have to disagree for someone who doesnt speak any japanese i would most perfer to have it in english i think that the voice actors in the first and second game did a very good job and frankly i have grown used to the english sora’s voice. if the game came out in japanese than i wouldn’t enjoy it. id buy it but i wouldnt like it. lol

after reading this I almost cried. Cus I had given up on this completely. After reading this I realized there is a god in heaven. *tear falls from eye* god I told myself I wouldn’t cry. oh and by the way guys don’t be dumb ofcouse the card system is In this. Also the cardsystem didn’t suck it just made battles more strategic and harder if I do say so myself. I guess it’s an aquired taste but stop personaly I love the strategy of the card system
